Shelby Blackstock grew up around country music, but he chose a different path and built a career in motorsport. The son of Reba McEntire and Narvel Blackstock raced in several categories, from open-wheel development series to a championship win in sports cars.
His famous family gets him attention, but his racing results are a separate reason to know him. This article covers his age, career, wife and family, and it keeps what’s documented apart from online guesses, especially on net worth.
Who Is Shelby Blackstock, and How Old Is He?
Shelby Steven McEntire Blackstock was born on February 23, 1990, which makes him 36 as of October 2026. He is the only child of Reba McEntire and Narvel Blackstock together. Through his father, he has three older half-siblings: Shawna, Chassidy, and the late Brandon Blackstock.
Shelby is a Nashville native. He saw the music business up close from a young age, touring with his parents and working as a roadie. He later went to high school in Los Angeles and then enrolled at the University of Arizona. His upbringing exposed him to entertainment, but college is where he began to think seriously about a different career.
How Did Shelby Blackstock Start Racing?
His interest in cars turned into a plan during his freshman year. He agreed to finish his first year of college if his parents would send him to racing school. A four-day course at the Bob Bondurant School of High Performance Driving convinced him to go after motorsport.
From there he gained experience in Skip Barber competition. In 2011, he finished fifth in the Skip Barber National Series, and he also raced in Formula Ford 1600 and GRAND-AM. Instead of focusing on one format right away, he got experience in both formula cars and sports cars.
He also learned the technical side of racing. While driving a Mustang for Roush, he worked in the shop and saw how the car was built. In an INDYCAR interview, he said that knowing the equipment helped him spot problems and explain them better to his mechanics.
What Did He Achieve in Open-Wheel Racing?
Shelby joined Andretti Autosport’s USF2000 program in 2012 and finished eighth in the championship. The next year he moved up to Pro Mazda and won his first series race at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in July 2013. Over his two Pro Mazda seasons, he had one win, three pole positions and 13 podium finishes.
In 2015, he moved to Indy Lights with Andretti. He finished eighth in the 2016 championship, then joined Belardi Auto Racing for 2017. This path took him through all three levels of the Mazda Road to Indy development system.
It helps to be exact about the series names. Indy Lights was a development championship below the main INDYCAR series. Racing there is not the same as winning or running a full season in INDYCAR itself. Even so, his open-wheel record is solid on its own terms.
How Did He Become a Sports-Car Champion?
His sports-car results got much stronger in 2019. Sharing the No. 37 LA Honda World Racing Honda Civic TCR with Tom O’Gorman, he won the first two IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge races of the season, at Daytona and Sebring. Those wins showed that his skills worked outside open-wheel cars too.
In 2020, he teamed up with Trent Hindman in a Racers Edge Motorsports Acura NSX GT3 Evo. The series’ official 2020 championship report names the pair as GT World Challenge America overall champions. They took five overall wins, six overall pole positions and eleven straight Silver Division wins.
Their results also helped the team and the manufacturer win titles. There is some context behind the numbers: their Acura was the only Silver Division entry in several races. Still, the five overall wins show they also beat cars from other classes, so the season amounts to more than a run of division results.
Who Is Shelby Blackstock’s Wife?
Shelby’s wife is Marissa Branch. They met on Tinder in 2014, stayed friends for a while, and started dating in 2016. Shelby proposed on New Year’s Eve in 2020, and they married at Walt Disney World on February 12, 2022.
The wedding reflected how much they both love Disney. Marissa walked down the aisle to “Tale as Old as Time” from Beauty and the Beast.
In April 2026, the couple announced they were expecting their first child, a boy due in October. Later reports gave the name as Archer, nicknamed Archie, Blackstock. As of October 13, 2026, the major sources reviewed had not confirmed a birth announcement.
Shelby Blackstock’s Family
Shelby’s mother is Reba McEntire, and his father is Narvel Blackstock, a music manager. His half-siblings from his father’s first marriage are Shawna, Chassidy and Brandon. Brandon, who was married to Kelly Clarkson, died in 2025.
Shelby’s father’s first wife, Elisa Gayle Ritter, is the mother of those three half-siblings. She is not Shelby’s mother.
What Is Known About Shelby Blackstock’s Net Worth?
Many people search for his net worth hoping for a dollar figure. The credible sources reviewed for this article don’t give a verified number. His racing results are public, but they don’t show his assets, debts, investments or personal income.
A championship title alone doesn’t tell you how much someone is worth. His mother’s financial success also isn’t proof of his own. Without reliable financial reporting or a statement from Shelby himself, any exact figure would be a guess.
Conclusion: A Career Beyond His Famous Family
Shelby Blackstock’s racing record gives his biography weight beyond being Reba McEntire’s son. He worked his way through USF2000, Pro Mazda and Indy Lights, then won in sports cars, including the 2020 GT World Challenge America title with Trent Hindman.
His age and marriage are documented, while his net worth is not. Keeping that line clear gives readers a more useful picture of his life than mixing real achievements with unsupported estimates.
